My country grain elevator photography began in 1990 as a way to explore new places in Montana. by 1993 I started traveling beyond the borders of Montana. Through the years road trips have become longer in time and distance and every year I try to add some new states.

I still have not been successful in controlling the weather for the best photo opportunities, and, waiting for the light to get better has not been the mode of operation. So this list includes many places from which, in my judgement, the photos in the collections are not great. Still, they are a document.

I usually photograph in black and white as well as color but if the conditions are really lousy I will take a snapshot with slide fim just to have a record.

the photos on this website are just some from the collections and periodically I add more. If there is a place in this list that interests you that is not among the posted photos, contact us for more information about availability. Please keep in mind that the collection may not include a particular elevator, or familiar angle.
